ICSD releases announcement elaborating failure of Slovakia Committee
by U.S. Deaflympics Media Team on February 13, 2011
In a press release dated 13 February 2011, the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) stated that the Slovakia Organizing Committee had failed to secure funds for venues.
"After arriving here in Vysoke Tatry to begin our monitoring of final preparations for the Winter Deaflympics, we became increasingly concerned about the lack of readiness and the absence of key organisers," commented ICSD Chief Executive Tiffany Granfors in the announcement.
"Repeated assurances had been given regarding the organising committee's financial state and it's overall readiness. But these assurances were simply not matched by the facts on the ground," added Granfors.
